Profile and app lock

Everything below is under menu → Profile.

Your profile

TidyShop has no account. Your profile is just how you appear, on this phone and to your family:

  • First name and Last name (optional)
  • Email (optional). It's only used to look up a Gravatar picture, and isn't sent anywhere else.
  • Profile picture: Choose photo from your gallery, or Use Gravatar. For Gravatar, TidyShop sends a one-way SHA-256 hash of your email, never the address itself.

Tap Save profile when you're done.

App lock

Protects your lists from anyone else holding your unlocked phone.

  1. Set up app-lock PIN: choose a 4–6 digit PIN.
  2. Enable biometric unlock, if you like, to use your fingerprint or face instead. Set up fingerprint or face unlock in Android's settings first. Your PIN always works as a fallback.
  3. Lock after leaving TidyShop: how long the app may stay unlocked after you switch away:
Option Locks
Always unlocked Never. The default.
Immediately As soon as you leave the app.
1 minute · 5 minutes · 10 minutes · 30 minutes After that long away.

Remove app-lock PIN and Disable biometric unlock undo them.

Forgot your PIN?

There's no way to reset it from inside the app, which is the point of a lock. Reinstalling TidyShop clears it, along with your lists, so keep a backup.

Had a password from an early version?

Very early versions of TidyShop used a password. If you set one, it still unlocks the app, alongside your PIN and fingerprint, and Change password appears here. New installs don't have a password at all.

Logging out

Account on this phone → Log out is for a phone that should no longer have TidyShop on it. It deletes every list on this phone, your profile, your PIN and your family enrolment, after you confirm. It can't be undone, so save a backup first if you want to keep your lists.

Only want to stop sharing with the family? Use Leave family instead. See Leaving.
