Items and suggestions¶
Adding items¶
Type in Add an item… at the top of a list, then press enter or the plus button.
TidyShop reads a quantity and a size out of what you type, so you don't have to fill in separate fields:
| You type | Item | Quantity | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
bread |
bread | ||
5 bread |
bread | 5 | |
2x 500gr salt |
salt | 2 | 500 g |
1 bread 500gr |
bread | 1 | 500 g |
1,5 liters milk |
milk | 1.5 L | |
cola 33 cl |
cola | 33 cl |
The units it understands are ml, cl, l, g, kg, oz, lb and pieces. Both a decimal comma and a decimal point work.
Suggestions while you type¶
Start typing and TidyShop lists the products it knows that match, for example br offers Bread and Brie. Tap one to add it straight away, with the department and photo it was saved with. A product is known once it has been on the list before, or once you gave it a department or a photo.
If you type a full name that TidyShop already knows and press enter, the department and photo are filled in for you as well.
Department and photo¶
Under the add field, Details opens two optional extras:
- Department, where the product lives in the shop: Bakery, Dairy, Frozen. Departments you have used before appear as buttons.
- Photo, taken with your camera (Take photo) or picked from your gallery (Choose). Photos are shrunk to a small size first. Remove photo takes it off again.
You can add or change them later too: press and hold an item, or use Edit in its ••• menu. An item with a photo shows it as a small picture, and tapping the picture enlarges it. The department is shown under the item's name.
Every product that has a department or a photo is remembered, so the next time you add it the details come with it. On a family list the remembered products live on the family server, shared by the whole household, and the photos are stored there too. Changing a product's department or photo on one phone changes it for everyone; clearing both forgets the product. On a personal list, they stay on your phone.
Moving items to another list¶
To move one item, open its ••• menu and choose Move to….
When a shop did not have several things, open the list's ••• menu and choose Move open items to…, then the list to move them to. Everything not yet ticked off moves, keeping its photo, department, quantity and size; ticked items stay where they are. You can only pick lists you can edit.
Searching a list¶
The ⌕ button at the top of a list opens a search field. It filters the list as you type, matching an item's name or its department. Tap ✕ to close it and see everything again.
Ticking things off¶
- Tap an item to tick it off. It's struck through and moves to Completed. Tap it again to put it back.
- Press and hold an item to edit it.
- The ••• button on an item offers Edit, Copy to… (put the same item on another list you can edit) and Delete.
In the edit dialog, leave the quantity and volume empty to keep an item as a plain entry.
Quick add¶
Under the input field, TidyShop shows suggestions: the things you add to this list most often. Tap one to add it. The row scrolls sideways, and More › jumps to the next page of suggestions.
Suggestions are learned per list, so your pharmacy list doesn't suggest bananas. On a family list, everyone with Edit access teaches the same suggestions, so the whole household sees the same ones.
To remove a suggestion, press and hold any suggestion. The row switches to Remove suggestions; tap × on the ones you don't want, then Done. Clear all suggestions in the list menu forgets everything this list has learned.
Quick add settings¶
In the list menu, Quick add settings controls:
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Visible rows | How many rows of suggestions the quick-add area shows (1–7). |
| Maximum suggestions | How many suggestions the list keeps in total. |
| Remember quantity, size and unit | On: "2 × 1 L milk" is learned as its own suggestion. Off: suggestions are learned by name only. |
Sorting items¶
Sort items inside a list offers:
| Option | Order |
|---|---|
| Name | A–Z, or Z–A when you tap it again |
| Added | First added at the top and last added at the bottom, or the other way round when you tap it again. This is the order new installs start with. |
| Custom | Your own order. Use the arrows on an item to move it. |
